AZ Works Opens Post-Production Complex in Busan

2009/03/19 Source

South Korea's leading post-production company AZ Works has opened a new 4-story complex in the southern port city of Busan, home to the Pusan Int'l Film Festival. Called 'AZ Works on the Beach' the building is fully-equipped for film processing, editing, graphics and other digital post-production work.

Second only to Seoul in location shooting, Busan accommodates on average 40 feature film shoots a year, but up to now the city has been lacking in post facilities. 5 years in-the-making, the new complex is located at Centum City, a fast-developing beachside borough not far from Haeundae Beach, Busan's premiere resort area.

AZ Works CEO LEE Yong-gi has worked with a number of Korean blockbusters including Bong Joon-ho's "The Host" and Kim Jee-woon's "The Good, the Bad, the Weird". The company already has post labs in Seoul and Beijing, and top director Park Chan-wook has just completed post-production at AZ Works for his upcoming thriller "Thirst".

Busan with ambitions to be the center of Korea's film industry - hopes to keep the momentum going, planning to build additional state-of-the-art facilities by 2010 including the Busan Image Center and Film Experience Museum. It also plans to complete its new home for the Pusan International Film Festival by 2011.
