News that superstar and eternal bachelor Bae Yong-joon is engaged to actress Park Soo-jin have dominated the entertainment headlines and social media since it was announced last Thursday.

KeyEast, the talent agency Bae founded and that handles them both, said the two had known each other for some time but their relationship blossomed in February this year.

Only a small handful of people at KeyEast knew about the relationship. When Bae and Park went on a date, they went with their friends or managers to avoid public attention.

"Most KeyEast staff only learned of the relationship a couple of days before the announcement has made", a staffer said.

The two have already met each other's parents and the wedding is planned for sometime this fall.

Bae made his debut in 1994 in a TV soap and became a superstar with the 2002 mega hit "Winter Sonata". His immense popularity in Japan and Asia paved the way for Korean Wave.

Major Japanese media including the Yomiuri Shimbun, Nikkan Sports, and Sankei Sports reported the news of Bae's wedding plans.

Park started out with girl band Sugar but switched to acting in 2006 when the band disbanded, though she has had no big success so far. Instead, she became better known as the host of cable channel program "Tasty Road", which introduces restaurants.

The stock price of KeyEast dropped by 5.14 percent on Friday after the news hit the headlines.
