Bae Yong-joon to Star in "Four Legends of the Great King"

"Yonsama" Bae Yong-joon will star in the new epic drama "Four Legends of the Great King", depicting the life of King Gwanggaeto. Bae will play King Gwanggaeto in his younger years, when he was nicknamed "Damdeok". Damdeok was a historical figure who was involved in a love triangle with a servant named Sujini and King Asin of the Baekje Kingdom.

"I am happy to have this opportunity to work with director Kim Jong-hak and scriptwriter Song Ji-na. I decided to take this role because of the reputation of the production crew, and the tantalizing plot and massive scale of this drama", said Bae.

The filming set and cast of the drama have yet to be finalized; the shooting will begin in October. Bae will begin the preparations for his new role as King Gwanggaeto as soon as he finishes his current movie "April Snow" in June. "This role stands out from all of my previous roles in terms of its dynamic and charismatic nature. I will do my utmost to prepare myself for this role after I finish 'April Snow,'" said Bae.

Director Kim Jong-hak said he chose Bae to play Damdeok because the actor's gentle yet very charismatic image fits well with the personality of Damdeok as a monarch, who embraced everything around him with warmth yet at the same time displayed extraordinary charisma.
