Behind-the-scenes secrets of D-War and other cultural contents revealed!

Behind-the-scenes information on internationally popular cultural contents, marketing strategies, and various efforts for inventing and realizing technologies are to be revealed to the public at the DICON 2007.

Hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (Minister: Kim, Jong-Min) and sponsored by the Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA, CEO: Suh, Byung-Moon) and the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE, Chairman: Shin, Hyun-Taek), the DICON 2007 is to be held at the Conference Center, COEX, in Samsung-dong, Seoul, which will run from Sept. 10 to 11.

Now in its seventh year, DICON 2007 has the theme, "Future Strategies and CT of the Cultural Content Industry in the Era of Convergence". DICON consists of the conference, which has three tracks and 18 sessions, the Biz-Mentoring, in which participants can get one-on-one business consultation, and the Licensing Academy, in which specialists introduce successful licensing business secrets.

Like in previous years, luminaries in the Korean and international cultural content industry are participating and sharing their know-how at the DICON 2007. Keynote speakers for the event are Lee Unkrich, creator of Finding Nemo and Toy Story, Shuzo Shiota, CEO of the leading Japanese CG company Polygon Pictures, and Doug McDavid, who directed Lost Connection, an IBM virtual social networking communication tool. Also appearing at the DICON 2007 is Toru Iwatani, the designer of Pac-Man, the famous first-generation Japanese game that was a huge hit in the 1980s.

Of particular interest is a special lecture by director Shim Hyung-rae, who has showcased the advancement of Korea's CG with "D-War". Under the theme, "the Era of the Fusion of Technology and Emotion: The Role of CT", Shim will speak to the audience on not only about his experience in making "D-War" but also share with them many interesting behind-the-scenes stories.

Moreover, the DICON 2007 has the new CT Forum, which explores the future direction of the CT. With the theme, "Culture Technology: Its Dynamic Influence", the Forum will investigate changes in the industry, which currently faces the impending fusion of broadcasting and communication, the future direction of the cultural technology. The Forum will also serve as the venue for those who want to present new business models.
