Bibliography of the 2006 Cultural Archetypal Contents is Published

A book on cultural archetypal content and cultural and historical content materials for "The King and the Clown" and "Jumong" has recently been published by the Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA, CEO: Suh, Byung-Moon). Titled the "Bibliography of 2006 Cultural Archetypal Contents", this is the fourth edition since the first edition in 2003.

The Bibliography consists of four parts. The first part, "Imagination", includes story materials, such as legends, myths, folk tale, history and literature. "Sentiment" includes painting, calligraphy, costume, patterns, music, dance, and other art materials.

"Dynamics" includes wars, play, foreign affairs, trade, business and other strategic materials. "Wisdom" includes architecture, maps, agriculture, fishing, food, medicine and other technical materials. It also introduces a total of 34 cultural archetypal content in Korea and abroad, such as the Fantastic Underworld, Natural Treasure: Hahoe Masks, People's life in 19th-century Joseon, Angkor Wat, and the World Wine Culture.

"These cultural archetypal contents that used to be believed of little value, but transformed into something invaluable through digital technologies, are widely used as key creative materials in various cultural content production processes", said Suh, Byung-Moon, CEO of KOCCA. "Such content will be even more important in the future".

The Cultural Archetypal Project aims to digitize Korean history and traditional culture by theme, so as to be used in the Korean cultural industry. Since it began in 2002, about 160 contents have been developed and made available online, via http://www.culturecontent.com .
