Big Bang and Kara to Appear in Biggest Music Festival in Japan

The Japanese media continuously delivered the news that star Korean groups Big Bang and Kara would appear on NHK's 61st White vs. Red Fest. Sports-Nippon reported the news on November 21 with a caption saying, "Big Bang and Kara to Have Hallyu Competition in the White vs. Red Fest", and it delivered the news that Big Bang had already decided to appear in the festival, and that Kara was finalizing conditions for appearing on the program.

In addition, the news said that Big Bang, which would appear in the White vs. Red Fest for the first time in the two years since its debut, had finished producing video messages to be played at the official press conference, and that Kara, who had debuted in Japan this year, had almost confirmed their appearance with only several issues needing to be settled. Before the announcement made by Sports-Nippon, Sankei Newspaper had already reported on their appearance on November 17, saying, "Kara and Big Bang are included in the cast member list for the White vs. Red Fest".

NHK's White vs. Red Fest, in which Korean singers such as Cho Yong Phil, Kim Yeon Ja, BoA, and Dong Bang Shin Ki had appeared previously, is the most popular music festival held at years-end in Japan. If Big Bang and Kara appear on NHK's White vs. Red Fest at the same time while belonging to the white and red team, respectively, it will be the first time in six years that Korean groups are represented on both teams since singers Lee Jung-hyun and Ryu, who had sung the theme song for the drama "Winter Sonata", had both appeared on the program in 2004.
