Bong Joon-ho, appointed judge for Cannes, Golden Camera Award

Director Bong Joon-ho has been appointed as a judge for the Golden Camera Award at the Cannes Movie Festival.

The movie executive office revealed on the 7th that director Bong was chosen to be the judge for the Golden Camera Award category at the 64th Cannes International Movie Festival. The Golden Camera Award goes to a rookie director for a feature film amongst the couple invited to the Awards this year.

Among our national movies, last year director Jang Cheol-soo's "Bedevilled" and 2008 director Na Hong-jin's "The Chaser" were nominated but not awarded.

This year the Cannes Movie Festival implied respect and affection to Korean directors by appointing director Lee Chang-dong as a judge for Critics Week. Director Bong Joon-ho had been invited to the Cannes International Movie Festival for "The Host" and "Mother - 2009", and director Lee Chang-dong was awarded the Best Screenplay for movie "Poetry" last year.
