Broadcasting Equipment Test Center Opens

A broadcasting equipment testing and certification center has opened in Gyeonggi Province.

The Korea Communications Commission held an opening ceremony on Monday at the Telecommunications Technology Association with some 100 people attending, including KCC chief Choi Si-jung and KBS Vice President Kim Young-hae.

Choi said in the ceremony that the center will increase the credibility of domestic broadcasting equipment and contribute to the coprosperity of broadcasters and broadcasting equipment producers.

The government, broadcasters and equipment producers will jointly select equipment items subject to the center's certification, and the center will conduct conformance tests on the equipment. About two-point-three billion won will be spent on the center over the next ten years.
