"'Map of the Soul: Persona', their latest album, has achieved the record by selling 3,399,302 copies in their homeland as of May 2019", Guinness World Records said. "This beats the previous record held by South Korean artist Kim Gun-mo's third studio album, 'Mis-Encounter' (1995), which has sold 3.3 million copies in [Korea]".

"Map of the Soul: Persona" was released on Apr. 12. It also topped the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums Chart and the U.K'.s Official Chart.

The music video of the album's lead track "Boy with Luv" featuring Halsey was recognized by Guinness in April for having garnered the most views on YouTube in a 24-hour period by any video, music video and K-pop music video, as it received 74.6 million hits on its first day of release.

Thanks to the band's large worldwide fan base, known as "the Army", BTS also holds the Guinness record for the most Twitter engagements.
