BTS Cancel Offline Event for New Album Amid Coronavirus Fears

K-pop band BTS canceled an offline launch event for their latest album "Map of the Soul: 7" amid fears over the coronavirus outbreak.

The band's agency Big Hit Entertainment said in a statement on Sunday, "We decided to hold the event without reporters and fans in attendance to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Instead, the event will be livestreamed via YouTube on Monday".

The band's new album, which was released worldwide on Feb. 21, instantly topped the iTunes album chart in 91 countries including Brazil, France, India, Japan, Russia and the U.S., with its lead track "ON" hitting No. 1 in the singles chart in 83 countries.
