BTS are among 17 artists on the annual list of 100 pioneers, artists, leaders, icons and titans who have changed the world.

They are the second K-pop act to earn the honor following Rain in 2006 and 2011.

BTS were nominated last year but didn't make the final list. They appeared on the cover of the magazine last October.

In a tribute to the band, Halsey, a Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter who featured on BTS's latest song "Boy with Luv", praised the "love and effort" the seven boys have "put into each and every step" behind their success in the global music scene.

"With positive messages of self-confidence, intricacies of philosophy hidden in their sparkly songs, true synergy and brotherhood in every step of their elaborate choreography, and countless charitable and anthropological endeavors, BTS have put their 14 best feet forward as role models to millions of adoring fans and anyone else who finds themselves drawn to BTS' undeniable allure", she wrote.

Lee Hoe-sung, chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, is also included in the leader category in this year's list.
