Bucheon Film Fest Features Kim Hye-soo Retrospective

Korea's largest genre film festival kicked off in Bucheon, west of Seoul on Thursday. The 23rd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival features 284 films from 49 countries during its 11-day run.

Opening the festival was the Mexican thriller "The Gasoline Thieves", which revolves around a naive teenager who steals gasoline to make some cash after joining a gang.

This year's festival includes a retrospective honoring actress Kim Hye-soo, whose illustrious career in showbiz spans more than 30 years. Ten of her films will be screened including "Tazza: The High Rollers" (2006), "The Thieves" (2012) and "Default" (2018).

The Korean mystery thriller "The 12th Suspect", which depicts a psychological battle between a detective and 12 suspects in a murder case, will close the festival.
