Busan Asian Short Film Festival to Open May 21

The executive committee of the Busan Asian Short Film Festival said it will hold this year's festival at the Concert Hall of Kyungsung University for five days starting on May 21.

This year's festival will add a brand new category called 'Extreme Short' for videos that are less than 60 seconds long. The annual festival will be a great opportunity for movie lovers to view a variety of well-made short Asian films.

The BASFF executive committee also said a total of 694 films from Korea and Asia have requested to join this year's festival. There are a total of five categories, including film drama, experimental film, animation, documentary and extreme short.

Excluding the documentary category, all films are under 20 minutes long. The films that will enter the final competition will be announced through the festival's official website http://www.basff.org.

The executive committee recently publicly unveiled the official poster of this year's festival, a collage of short films that come together to create Oryuk Island, a symbol of Busan.
