The G80, a face-lifted version of the Genesis DH and the first model of the premium G-series, will hit the market here after the motor show. Two types will be available, one with more sporty features.

The motor show will set the trends for the domestic car market in the second half of this year. Some 25 Korean and foreign carmakers will introduce a total of 30 new models, up 14 percent from two years ago. The annual motor show is held alternately in Seoul and Busan.

◆ New Cars

Five models -- three from Hyundai, one from Kia and one from first-time participant MAN Truck & Bus -- will have their world premieres in Busan. They include Hyundai's RM16 concept, a racer based on the Veloster coupe.

Hyundai's high-performance N brand will also show the 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept for the first time in Korea.

Kia will introduce the K5 plug-in hybrid, which can travel 54 km in all-electric mode, while GM Korea will unveil the Volt plug-in hybrid, which can travel up to 676 km on a single charge.

Renault Samsung will introduce the Koleos midsize SUV, which will be rolled out under the name QM6 in late September.

◆ Commercial Vehicles

A number of new commercial vehicles will also be introduced. Hyundai will unveil its Solati camper and 21-seater premium coach. The Solati has a bathroom with a shower booth and sink as well as a gas range. It is the first domestic camper with a double bunk bed. The coach, which will be released later this year, has seats that lean back like first-class seats on an airplane.

MAN Truck & Bus is the only foreign commercial vehicle brand to open a booth in Busan. It plans to introduce four trucks.

"Our sales have steadily increased until we were the second-largest foreign commercial car brand here", an MAN spokesman said. "So we decided to participate in this year's show as communicating with customers is important if we want to improve our quality".

◆ Foreign Cars

Cadillac will showcase the CT6 large sedan, set to be released next month. It will be in the same price range as the Genesis EQ900.

Ford will showcase the new Lincoln Continental, which will be launched later this year.

Toyota will introduce the Mirai hydrogen fuel-cell car, which was launched in Japan in late 2014 and can travel about 650 km on a single charge.

Bentley, Jaguar and Maserati all plan to unveil their first SUVs.
