Cable TV Giant Taekwang Group Under Investigation

Cable TV giant Taekwang Group is under investigation on charges that the company illegally lobbied for relaxation of the market share restriction on media.
Sources close to the investigation said on Thursday the probe is focusing on politicians and government officials that Taekwang allegedly bribed to increase the maximum number of broadcasting regions a cable service provider is permitted to have from 15 to 25 of the total 77 regions nationwide.
Thanks to this relaxed regulation Taekwang was able to acquire the number two company Qrix and become the top cable TV service provider covering 21 regions.
The corporation is also undergoing investigation on tax evasion charges.
