Chae Shi-ra Cements Relationship with Vatican

Actress Chae Shi-ra has had a long-standing relationship with the Vatican. "I went to the Vatican for my honeymoon and was a PR ambassador for the papal visit in summer last year", she recalls. "I also had the great honor to host the live broadcast of Pope Francis' arrival".

Now she has done the voiceover for the Korean edition of the documentary film "The Vatican Museums 3D" featuring masterpieces in 1,400 rooms in 24 galleries covering 3,000 km in all.

"It's not just 3D, but 4K 3D, which has much higher definition. The quality of resolution was superb and I felt as if I was looking at these masterpieces in front of my eyes", she says.

She was asked to participate in the project in December. "There was no reason why I would say no, especially when it meant that I could study the history of the era and the hidden stories behind the great works of great masters like Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, Van Gogh, Chagall and Dali. I thoroughly enjoyed it".

Chae said she struggled to see the works in detail when she went to the Vatican on her honeymoon because it was so crowded and the works were displayed a fair distance from the visitors. "But this documentary shows each work in great detail, allowing viewers to truly appreciate them".

"I was concerned at first because it had a lot of technical terms and I had to lead singlehandedly from the beginning to the end", she admits. "But news presenters who watched the preview gave me thumbs up. They told me that they could feel the excitement in my voice".
