Kim: It feels as if the lines that I exchange with kwon Sang-woo match up with each other smoothly. When I read my lines and my partner answers back, there is a sense of sauciness. If the sauce is tasty, that is chemistry.

Kwon: With "My Tutor Friend" being such a success, it is difficult to say that our chemistry was not good this time (giggles).

Kim: Stop it. [Kwon] in the movie has a great glare. He looks like a rascal, but also feels like someone with a strong feeling of love.

Kwon: Yes, I am attractive all right. I'm funny, have a great body, earn lots of money, and I'm healthy. Isn't this good enough? (giggles) Kim Ha-neul has a unique image. These days, actresses have all gone through plastic surgery, which makes them actually look alike. However, Kim has no one that looks like her. As a matter of fact, nowadays actresses all have such slender jaws, don't they?

Two Obscure Actorsó

Kwon: After I finished my military service, I had a difficult time until I debuted in showbiz. I suffered tremendous hardships for three years in Seoul. I came to Seoul with no particular plan in mind; at that time I thought that Apgujeong subway station was the entire Gangnam area. I got off at Apgujeong station and walked across Daechi-dong, Cheongdam-dong and Nonhyeon-dong giving out my profile pictures. At the time, you know those people standing at the background in a bank commercial? I was in it, and received 150,000 won, on which I lived for an entire month.

Kim: Oh, poor you.

Kwon: When we were shooting "My Tutor Friend", I didn't think of anything because I had nothing to lose. Whatever the outcome, it would break even for me. Plus I thought that since Kim Ha-neul is a famous star, I could bandwagon on her.

Kim: Bandwagon? (Laughs)

In the movie Ji-hwan (Kwon), who works part time as a stuntman, dreams of becoming an action-movie star like Jackie Chan, while Dal-lae (Kim) goes around auditioning in order to become an actress while overcoming her stage fright.

Putting a Periodó

Kim: I thought this movie was a gentle and funny one. Also, a movie that would be difficult for me to shoot when I'm in my 30s. How many more chances to shoot innocent and pretty movies will I have? I don't think I can return to comedies, and I don't personally enjoy shooting melodramatic movies. From now on, I won't play characters such as Cinderella or Kong-jwi who won't ever receive the support of female moviegoers. Now I want to play roles that women will support and feel sympathy.

Kwon: Now I want to try a more special, melodramatic movie that truly knows what women want. Oh, the day before yesterday Ji-tae (actor Yoo Ji-tae) sent me a message after watching a screening of "Cheongchun Manhwa" (Adolescent Comic - "Almost Love"). It said, "Oldies pretending to be young", (laughs)

Good romantic comedies usually stick to the golden rule: Don't stray too far toward other genres, especially trite melodramas. "Almost Love" (Cheongchun manhwa) is by and large a watchable romantic comedy, but it does not obey the rule - at its own risk.
