At the same time, a Hollywood remake of My Sassy Girl is also being developed, by the Hollywood studio Gold Circle. The Hollywood and the Chinese versions of My Sassy Girl share more than the same source material, their schedules are similar too; the Hollywood remake will also start filming in the fall of this year and the release is planned for 2007.

My Sassy Girl was directed by Kwak Jae-yong and became a blockbuster in Korea in 2001, followed by great popularity in other Asian countries. Jun Ji-hyun played the female lead role and the film made her a pan-Asian star. The film was based on a popular Korean Internet novel.
