Chungmuro Film Festival Invites Top Stars

Korea's top film stars will grace the 2nd Chungmuro International Film Festival in Seoul, which is slated to open on September 3rd. The opening ceremony will be held at the Korea National Theater Wednesday evening and hosted by two award-winning film stars Park Joong-hoon and Kang Soo-yeon.

The organizers of the film festival announced a list of glittering invitees, including Jang Dong-gun, Kim Hye-soo, Ha Ji-won and Lee Joon-gi, as well as illustrious filmmakers and film company officials. Unlike the Blue Dragon Film Awards or the Daejong Film Festival, which is mainly a celebration for actors and actresses, the Chungmuro International Film Festival is directed at the general public. So it is very unusual and meaningful to see so many film stars taking part in the event.

The festival's new Organizing Committee Chairman Lee Deok-hwa is said to be the driving force behind the early success of the event. He has appeared on a number of TV programs to promote the festival and personally made numerous calls to his fellow performers and filmmakers to attend the celebration. The opening film will be the Japanese film "Hidden Fortress: The Last Princess".
