CJ E&M Becomes First Korean Member to Join the Broadway League

Co-producer of Musicals 'Kinky Boots' And 'August Rush' Makes Korea Third Asian Country with the Membership

Asia's leading content and media company CJ E&M announced today that it became the first Korean member to have joined the Broadway League, America's national trade association for the Broadway industry, whose membership includes the world's top producers and operators. CJ E&M's latest membership also makes Korea the third Asian country to join the League, following Japan and Singapore.

Over the last decade, CJ E&M has invested and co-produced 20 shows. In 2013, it co-produced Kinky Boots, the winner of six Tony awards, including Best Musical. The show's first international staging is currently underway in Korea since December 1, 2014, having successfully garnered rave reviews for the production.

Broadway's acknowledgement of CJ E&M is expected to accelerate its involvement in international projects such as August Rush the Musical, which the company has signed on as one of the lead producers. CJ E&M will continue to work with partners across the world to produce masterful musicals in Asia, as well as in English-speaking countries going forward.
