College students vote for "The Host" as the Korean film of the year

The record-setting box-office hit film "The Host" was named as the Korean film of the year by college students, with the film's director Bong Joon-ho as the year's best director.

According to a survey commissioned by Daehak Naeil, a weekly magazine for college students, and conducted by survey specialist Korea Research from Nov. 29 to Dec. 8 with 1,025 college students in Seoul, The Host won the support of 29% of the interviewees and was selected as the Korean film of the year.

The sampling error was 3.1% and the confidence level was 95%.

The Host was followed by "The King and the Clown" (18%), T"he War of Flower" (17%) and "Radio Star" (7%). All of these films have been recognized for their quality by both critics and the public.

Director Bong Joon-ho also emerged as the director of the year (36%), followed by Lee Joon-ik (12%) who made "The King and the Clown" and "Radio Star", and Choi Dong-hoon (11%) of "Tazza: The High Rollers".

The actor of the year went to Song Kang-ho (15%), followed by Zo In-sung (9.1%) and Kam Woo-sung (8.8%), whereas the actress of the year went to Kim Hye-soo with overwhelming support (30%), followed by Lee Na-young (11%).

Lee Na-young and Gang Dong-won in "Our Happy" Time were named as the best couple.

Meanwhile, college students named the music soundtrack of "The King and the Clown" as the best of the year, whereas "Dasepo Girl" turned out to be the year's most disappointing film.
