2005/09/15 Source

A creative film festival related to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and targeted at college students will be held in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province with the purpose of raising collegians' awareness of national liberation and the 60-year-long national division, and enhancing their understanding of the DMZ through films.

According to an official from the Gangwon Provincial Government on Sept. 15, the provincial government and the EBS (Educational Broadcasting System) will jointly and concurrently host the creative film festival as well as a festival for college student clubs from across the nation at the auditorium and outdoor theater of the Chuncheon National Museum from Sept. 22 through 24. The programs will be managed by the Kim Jong-hak Production Inc.

30 winners out of a total of 104 films submitted by 65 nationwide college film clubs will be shown to college students and the general public during the festival.

During the festival, a music festival will also be held in Gangwon Province, during which 40 outstanding music clubs from some 20 colleges and universities in the province will give performances.

Also performing in the festival as guests will be the famous rock group "Crying Nut", "Horny Checks" -- the winner of the Gold Prize at the Collegians' Song Contest in 2004 -- and the music group "Landscape Seen from the Bicycle".
