The work of late video artist Paik Nam-june, who passed away in 2006, will be displayed on a lake using lasers on July 20th to commemorate his 80th birthday.
Paik's masterpiece, comprising two- and three-dimensional images and bright colors of the symbol of the Olympics and the Korean national flag, will be projected on a sheet of water between the lake and the sky.
The commemoration takes the late artist's anticipation of video replacing paper a step further, by projecting images upon nature.
Along with the laser art, the "Megatron", featuring the dynamism of sports and Korea's traditional spirit including a crown made during the Baekje era through digital technology, is also being showcased the same day.
The late artists always tried something new until the day he died, and his spirit will be enlivened through his work once again.
