Samsung Group on Wednesday donated W30 billion to the Korea Disaster Relief Association and Hyundai Motors W5 billion to help prevent the spread of the disease, particularly in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province, which have become hotbeds of the infections after a so-called supercarrier attended a service by a sizeable religious sect (US$1=W1,216).

SK Group and LG Group each donated W5 billion to Community Chest of Korea for the same cause. Lotte Group donated W1 billion to assist the worst-affected regions, and discount store chain E-Mart has sent some 2.2 million face masks to Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province in priority over other regions.
