Culture Minister Urge Greater Exchanges with China

Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Yu In-chon on Friday called for Korea's increased cultural exchanges with China as part of efforts to overcome mounting anti-Korean sentiment in China.

During his visit to Beijing to cheer up Korean athletes in the Beijing Paralympics, the minister told Korean reporters that Northeast Asia should seek mutual progress as a single market.

He noted that he was surprised to see Chinese people cheer for players who compete against Koreans, including non-Chinese players, stressing that Korea and China should have more cultural and sports exchange and promote tourism to deepen mutual understanding and friendship.
