"Detective K" entertains 3 million viewers in 2 weeks

Korean blockbuster "Detective K" has crossed the 3 million viewer mark just two weeks after its domestic debut.

According to statistics released by the Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS), the fusion movie garnered a total of 3,081,533 moviegoers as of February 10th with ticket sales amounting to more than 23 billion won. "Detective K" has been enjoying the top spot in Korean box office since its release on January 27.

The movie helmed by veteran comedy director Kim Seok-yoon recorded its highest ticket sales during the Lunar New Year holidays (Feb 2-4) with almost 1 million moviegoers only in those 3 days. As of February 4th, the movie had reached 2 million admissions with gross ticket sales of 15.5 billion won.

"Detective K" revolves around the adventures of the great detective (Kim Myung-min) and his sidekick (Oh Dal-soo) as they investigate, under the King's secret order, a series of murders believed to be related to a conspiracy by top government officials. Han Ji-min co-stars as Han Gaek Ju, the alluring businesswoman who holds the key to the mystery.

The movie is produced by Generation Blue Films, co-produced by Withus Films and distributed by Showbox/Mediaplex. International screening will start off in March in the United States.
