DMC Pusan to hold a special screening of filmmaker Hong Sang-soo's films

DMC Pusan ( http://www.diamondcinema.co.kr ) holds a special screening of filmmaker Hong Sang-soo's films in step with his cinema Keuk Jang Jeon (Tale of Cinema)'s release on July 1-14.
During the period of this special screening, the whole films of director Hong Sang-soo are screened such as 'Woman is the Future of Man' (2004), 'The Power of Kangwon Province' (1998) including his debut film 'The Day a Pig Fell Into the Well' (1996).
This special screening of filmmaker Hong Sang-soo films is expected to serve as a momentum to watch for director Hong's film world, who made inroads into the competition of the Cannes International Film Festial one after another this year as well as last year.
Since his debut in 1996, Hong Sang-soo has established himself as one of Asia's most original and talented directorial voices. His films appear ordinary on the surface, but they reveal uncomfortable truths about human relationships in a complex, candid manner.
Both as a screenwriter and a director on the set, Hong adopts a fluid, spontaneous working style that belies this highly structured aspect of his work.
In general he prefers to shoot from a detailed treatment rather than a script, and one hears stories about him composing dialogue for a certain scene on the morning of the day it is to be shot. Yet he gives his actors very precise instructions down to the smallest details and inflections.
As for editing, Hong describes it as "a process of trying to make discoveries". Sometimes major changes may take place in the editing room, as when the original conceived ending to his fifth film Woman is the Future of Man was removed in post-production.
Keuk Jang Jeon (Tale of Cinema), which will be released soon, is portraying a story, in which in Seoul, the paths of two men and one woman intersect and move apart from one another, centering around their love for cinema.
A suicidal student meets a young woman who decides to follow him in his fatal gesture. Coming out of a cinema, Tongsu, an unsuccessful filmmaker, spots a beautiful young woman, and recognizes her : she is the main actress in the film he has just seen. The life of this wavering and distressed young man strangely echoes the one of the young man from the beginning...
This film's actors include Uhm Ji-won (The young girl and the actress), Lee Ki-woo (The boy), and Kim Sang-kyung (The man).
