Documentary 'Between' enjoys strong opening

The Korean documentary Between by Lee Chang-jae is winning over strong interest from audiences during its commercial release.
The film, which details the experiences of a Korean shaman, is being distributed in CGV multiplexes after being selected for the CJ-CGV Korean Film Distribution Support Fund at the 2006 Jeonju International Film Festival.
In its first four days the film sold an unexpectedly high 5,662 tickets on only four screens. Even more surprising, the film's seat occupancy rate of 42% was the highest of any other film screening in CGV theaters. Thanks to this strong interest from audiences, the film will expand to 6 screens in the coming weekend.
The all-time box office record for a documentary in Korea is held by Kim Dong-wan's Repatriation, which sold 23,496 tickets in 2004.
