[HanCinema's News] "The Roundup: Punishment" Passes Five Million Viewer Mark

On May 1st the Korean Film Council confirmed that the cop action film "The Roundup: Punishment" earned 390,187 admissions on April 30th. This now brings "The Roundup: Punishment" to 5,005,754 admissions overall. "The Roundup: Punishment" has now had the best opening of 2024 as well as the best performance from any other film in its franchise. "The Roundup: Punishment" hit this milestone in only seven days- "Exhuma" needed ten earlier this year.

"The Roundup: Punishment" has been amplified by an intense marketing campaign, which has seen its lead and supporting cast visiting filmgoers in person to thank them for watching the movie. Even director Heo Myeong-haeng has been making these personal appearances. "The Roundup: Punishment" is likely to have a strong second week as well. May 1st is the May Day holiday in South Korea, and May 5th is Children's Day, with a three day weekend ending on May 6th.
