Eighth PISAF 2006 kicked off on Nov. 2

Showcasing 170 works from 25 countries, the event offered a place for diverse international exchanges including the International Academic Symposium

Under the slogan, "New Generation, New Trends, New Creativity and New Digital Paradigm", the eighth Puchon International Student Animation Festival (PISAF 2006) kicked off on Nov. 2 and will run until Nov. 6 at the Boksagol Cultural Center, Bucheon.

"Among a total of 718 submissions from 23 countries, we will screen 170 works from 25 countries and other various events", announced the organization committee of PISAF 2006 on Nov. 1.

The PISAF 2006 opened with the screening of The Tale of How (Republic of South Africa), Kungpu Life (Korea), Solo Duets (UK), and Making of Star (France). A large body of new animations in diverse subject matter, genres, and production techniques were also featured.

In addition, the festival was also the occasion for the opening of the PISAF International Professor's Pavilion and the High School Students' Exhibition, public lectures including "To Annecy International Animated Film Festival", the International Academic Symposium, the International Academic Seminar, and masterclasses.

Other events included the Student Digital Comic Contest, Children's Comic Drawing Contest, Cafe of Cartoon, Night of Cartoon, Students' Night, and Experience Classes. For more information, please visit the PISAF 2006 website ( http://www.pisaf.or.kr ).
