Ex-Culture Minister Gets Highest French Honor

2006/10/27 | 73 views | Permalink | Source

Film director, novelist and former Culture Minister Lee Chang-dong will receive France's highest decoration, the Legion of Honor.

The French Embassy in Seoul said Friday that Lee will be granted the knight's badge for his efforts as minister to maintain the screen quota system, saying the system aims to protect cultural diversity.

The quota regulates the number of days domestic theaters must screen Korean films.
