Former rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae will make her debut as a commentator during the upcoming Asian Games in Indonesia next week.

Her appearance on terrestrial broadcaster KBS will be her first rhythmic gymnastics-related event since she retired from the sport last year.

"It was not an easy decision to retire from rhythmic gymnastics, which was my whole life for almost 20 years. I received a lot of love and attention as a rhythmic gymnast, so now I guess it's time for me to reciprocate in some way by interacting with my fans again", Son said.

She admitted that she will have to work hard, because -- although she reached the top of the podium as an athlete -- this will be her first foray into the world of commentating.

"I have a lot to learn, as I am a novice. But I will do my best, cheering for all the athletes along with everyone", she said.
