Ex-Singer Booked on Fraud Charges

Lee Juno of the defunct pop band Seo Taiji and Boys was booked on fraud charges on Monday.

According to police, Lee in January last year borrowed W100 million from a friend offering to invest it in a restaurant they planned to run together (US$1=W1,184).

The woman, identified only by her surname Choi, said Lee promised to return the money within a week but did not give it back for more than a year.

Lee told police that he had not intended to steal the money but did not have the cash to repay her.

After the group disbanded in 1996, Lee started his own entertainment management agency and dance school.
