Exclusive Korean Film Theater to Open in Roppongi, Tokyo

An exclusive Korean film theater symbolizing the hallyu boom--which is characterized by Korean films and TV dramas--will open in Japan in Roppongi, Tokyo.

The December issue of the monthly entertainment magazine Nikkei Entertainment reported that "Korean films starring 'hallyu' actors and actresses will continue to be released with the ongoing 'hallyu' boom. An exclusive film theater symbolizing the boom will soon open".

According to the magazine, the theater "CineMart Roppongi" will open in February 2006, showcasing Asian films on a total of four screens, with a special focus on Korean movies.

"CineMart Roppongi" will be run by distribution agency SPO. This past year, the agency won favor with hallyu fans for screening 21 Korean films starring hallyu actors and actresses during the "Hallyu Cinema Festival 2005".

To mark its opening, the theater will screen the films "Innocent Steps" (2005), starring Moon Geun-young, and "Crazy First Love" (2003), starring Son Ye-jin.
