The title track of the album moved straight to the top of major Korean music streaming sites, including Melon and Naver Music, and also topped iTunes charts in over 40 countries around the world.

The nine-member band's latest album came out just one month after their worldwide tour, which wrapped up in June. There were 800,000 pre-orders for the album. All of their three previous albums sold over 1 million copies.

EXO's management agency, SM Entertainment, has pinned hopes on the album's success amid the fading popularity of K-pop.

Many other singers managed by SM, such as TVXQ and Super Junior, are taking breaks due to their mandatory military service, while Girls' Generation and f(x) are focusing on their individual careers in acting and other fields.

All eyes are on EXO to see whether they can revive the K-pop phenomenon.
