Amid growing popularity of Korean movies on international screens, market experts are predicting outbound shipments of local productions will surpass the US$20 million mark this year.
Findings for the first half show exports posted US$14 million during the January to June period, similar to last year's 12-month total.

For this year industry sources are projecting overseas sales of domestic films will reach US$ 25 million in total on the back of improved plotlines and increased investments in filmmaking.

Yet keeping in mind that the lion's share of the demand for Korean flicks, more than two thirds, is from neighboring Japan, analysts are stressing on the need for a broadening of the industry's foreign markets to include European nations as well as the United States.
