Fanfare in the Korea Drama Festival

The 2006 Korea Drama Festival (Chair: Kim, Tae-Ho, Governor of Gyeongnam), the first Asian drama and multimedia cultural festival, opened with a wonderful ceremony on the special stage at the Jinju Fortress in Jinju, Gyeongnam.

Hosted by Gyeongnam and City Jinju and operated by the Organization Committee for the Korea Drama Festival, it was conducted to attract tourists from Korea and abroad and to promote Jinju as a city of multimedia and tourism by consolidating the city's different resources and integrating them with the theme of dramas and cultural heritages. The festival was held until Oct. 29.

Meanwhile, the organization committee hosted Drama Graffiti Festival (a competition for graffiti works scrawled by drama stars on large boards), and held the opening ceremony of the Drama Screening Hall, the Drama Production Companies PR Hall, and the Drama Cosplay Play Hall at the Jinju Fortress. These halls were open to the public during the festival.

"Like France's Cannes Film Festival, we will develop Jinju's Drama Festival as part of the cultural division of Jinju City's Southern Coast Project", said Kim, Tae-Ho, chair of the organization committee, "to raise the brand value of Gyeongnam and promote the festival as a representative multimedia festival in Asia".
