Fans Elated as Kim Hyun-joong Ends Military Service

Pop star Kim Hyun-joong was discharged from military service on Saturday. Over 1,200 fans from home and abroad braved the cold to cheer him on release from a military camp in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

"For the past 21 months, I thought about a lot of things and learned courage and how to handle a crisis", Kim said. "I can't go into details, but I'll be back with good news as soon as possible".

Before he started his military service in May 2015, Kim was sued by an ex-girlfriend who alleged that she miscarried because he beat her.

He was cleared of the charge and prosecutors have charged the woman with attempted fraud and defamation instead, but the case had already dealt a body blow to Kim's image.
