First day for general service channels, all ratings below 1%

2011/12/01 | 490 views | Permalink | Source

TV Chosun (Daily Chosun), JTBC (Daily Joong Ang), Channel A (Daily Dong A) and MBN (Mae Il Economy) opened all channels on the 1st of December but none of them could collect more than 1% of viewers.

According to AGB Nielsen Media Research on December 2nd, all four channels were below 1% except for one program; JTBC "News 10" rated 1.215%.

Looking at their percentages one by one, JTBC "News 10" was the highest and next was the Channel A 'Special Founding Documentary' "White Apocalypse Greenland" with 0.905%. TV Chosun rated 0.848% with the "9 O'Clock News" and MBC 0.585% with "Jeong Woon-gap's Investigation".

Although it is hard to expect such high numbers on the first day, it hinted that the GS channels still have a long way to go.

Meanwhile, the general service channels have discussed ad naseum the issue of program selection, and there were many errors during the broadcast as they never went through live testing.

Channel A created great impact by reporting the news about Kang Ho-dong and his involvement with the Japanese Yakuza and TV Chosun exaggerated a report saying that [Olympic skater] Kim Yuna would join it as an anchor. There were also sound and visual failures during one of the TV programs.
