Five Korean Films Invited to Toronto International Film Festival

The organizers of the 30th Toronto International Film Festival unveiled a lineup of 335 films from 52 countries that will screen at next month's event to be held in Canada from September 8 through 17.

It turns out that five Korean films will make it to the film festival.

Presented in the "Special Presentation" division will be "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" (directed by Park Chan-wook), which has also advanced to the competition division of this year's Venice International Film Festival, and "April Snow" (directed by Heo Jin-ho), which has come into the spotlight because it stars Bae Yong-joon as its lead actor. The new film "Duelist" (directed by Lee Myung-se) has been invited to the "Vision" division of the Toronto Film Festival.

"The President's Last Bang" (directed by Im Sang-soo) and "Sa-Kwa" ("Apple") (directed by Kang Yi-kwan) will be presented in the "Contemporary World Cinema" division and the "Discovery" division, respectively, during the film festival.

Among the titles added to the festival's Gala section were Stephen Frears' "Mrs. Henderson Presents", Guy Ritchie's "Revolver", Stanley Tong's "The Myth", Tommy Lee Jones' "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada", and Richard Sheperd's "The Matador". Meanwhile, Korean actress, Kim Hee-sun who played in 'The Myth' as its lead role along with Chung Rung will show up at the event.

Korea Film Council (Representative Ahn Jung-sook) will jointly host the 'Asian Film Night' reception along with the AFIN (Asian Film Industry Network) to distribute catalogs about Asian films and promote them.
