FTC Accuses Korean Food Company Nongshim of False Advertising

Korea's Fair Trade Commission has accused Nongshim, one of the country's largest food makers, of false advertising for one of its instant noodle products.
The FTC announced on Monday that it will fine the company 1-hundred-50 million won, or around 1-hundred-40 thousand US dollars, and ordered it to change deceptive phrases such as "complete and nutritionally balanced food" used for its Shin Ramyun Black instant noodles.
Some civic groups say Nongshim has already earned more than 15-million dollars in revenue from the product and that the punishment is far too soft.
Officials from the FTC, however, explained that the amount of the fine was based on the company's revenue from the product from April 12th to June 24th of this year.
