G-Dragon's Marijuana Indictment Suspended

G-Dragon (real name Kwon Ji-yong, 23) of the star idol group "Big Bang" apparently smoked marijuana in Japan, and it has been exposed by the prosecutors. The Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office (prosecutor Kim Hee Jomg) said on October 5 that they have decided to suspend G-Dragon's indictment for smoking marijuana. According to the prosecutor, G-Dragon smoked marijuana in May in Japan. They tested his hair, and the result came back positive for marijuana in July. But a urine test was found to be negative for marijuana, but usually the urine test can detect marijuana that has been smoked only within ten days before the test. G-Dragon reportedly admitted that he had smoked marijuana at a club in Japan. G-Dragon said, "I smoked a cigarette that a Japanese person gave to me at a club, but the smell was different from a normal cigarette. It could have been marijuana, but it is true that I smoked a little".

Big Bang held a concert tour from May 10 to 19 in three cities of Japan: Osaka, Chiba, and Nagoya. The prosecutor's office revealed that they suspended G-Dragon's indictment considering that it was his first time to smoke marijuana, the amount of marijuana found in his hair was only a small amount, and he was still a university student.

A suspension of indictment means that there will be no legal charge against the offender considering the situation, age, motive of the crime, and the degree to how much the offender regrets his or her behavior even though the crime itself has been confirmed. A person from the prosecutor's office said, "G-Dragon admitted to smoking marijuana and he reflected on his conduct during the investigation".

G-Dragon had aroused controversy with an "obscene" dance during one of his concerts held in 2009, and the prosecution suspended its investigation of the obscenity charges last year in March.
