Girls' Generation and Kara With Their Eyes Set On Japan

Two of Korea's hottest girl groups will go head to head in Japan during the month of August. SM Entertainment announced on June 11th that Girls' Generation will be holding a showcase performance event in Tokyo at the Ariake Coliseum on August 25th. The venue can seat up to 10,000 and will hopefully launch what will be a successful career for the ladies in Japan. Following their showcase, Girls' Generation will officially start their promotional activities in the neighboring country. This will include the release of their debut album in Japan scheduled for September.

On the other hand, after entering the Japanese market this past May, Kara also has lots of plans for further promotions. They released a Japanese packaged album in April, and even entered into the top 10 of the Oricon Music Charts with it. They will release their official debut album in August.?

There have been some boy groups that have been active in Japan, such as TVXQ and Big Bang. Girl group-wise, 4Minute debuted first this past May with "Music". Also, T-ara has been active in other ways, such as participating in a family restaurant ad.
