Gov't to Stop Analog TV Broadcasting by 2012

2007/04/26 | 156 views | Permalink | Source

The government will stop transmitting analog TV signals by the end of 2012 to complete the move to digital broadcasting.

To that end, television manufacturers will be required to put digital TV tuners in large-screen TVs sized 30 inches or larger from next year. The requirement will be expanded to all TVs from 2010.

A digital broadcasting promotion committee jointly headed by the Information and Communication Minister and the head of the Korean Broadcasting Commission on Thursday approved the measure in a special bill.
