Govt. to Open Ipo Weir to Public this Saturday

The Korean government is set to open the Ipo reservoir, located on the North Han River to the public this Saturday.
It represents another step toward completion of the nation's four major rivers restoration project.

The Ipo reservoir in Yeoju county, Gyeonggi Province can produce nearly 18-thousand megawatts of electricity annually which is sufficient to power 35-hundred households.
It is the second-longest among the 16 reservoirs built nationwide and previously won an award for best-designed reservoir in Korea.
The restoration project, which began in 2009, has focused on developing the riversides of the nation's four major rivers including the Han, Nakdong, Geum and Yeongsan Rivers.
