"Happy Erotic Christmas" film starring Kim Sun-ah and Cha Tae-hyun starts from this childish imagination which everyone has dreamed about once.
With Christmas coming, various colorful love stories are knitted together in Yuseong which is famous for its hot springs. If you expect a "hot" appearance by Kim, you would be disappointed. She has been totally changed to be a shy and timid bowling alley employee, Huh Min-kyung, who wants to become a nail artist. Gangster boss Bhang Suk-doo (Park Young-kyu) and minor policeman Sung Byung-ki (Cha Tae-hyun) fights for her affection.
For 28-year old Kim, the year 2003 has been her best year. In the film "Hwangsanbul" (released October 17), she appeared for a short time as General Kyebaeck's wife and had the spectators laughing nonstop with a famous line "Lion dies for leaving the leather, men die for leaving name!" And in "Great Expectation (English name: Nose Nose)" film which was released a week later, she transformed herself into a rude "swan" (slang for an unemployed girl) who took an emergency measure by putting pickled radishes on her tongue after she burned it while eating a cup of ramen.
Now Kim has the nickname "Queen of Comedy" which was given to her before she even knew it. From last year's "Mongjunggi" (meaning wet dream time) to "Happy Erotic Christmas", can Kim hit her fourth consecutive homerun?
Kim Sun-ah frankly told her experiences and thought about the key word related to this movie to be released on December 17. Only individuals over 15-years old may watch.
Why is it in Yuseong? That's hometown of Director Lee Kun-dong who is making his directing debut with this movie. Lee chose Yuseong saying, "I don't know how to get around Seoul very well, but I know every nook and corner in Yuseong".
"I immensely enjoy hot springs, but nowadays I cannot go. I cannot wash myself because people stare at me with a weird look. Why do people only look at me when everyone washes himself the same way? Though everyone is filled with dirt, the rumors the next day will circulate about me is that I'm too dirty", said Kim.
After shooting "Great Expectation", Kim felt even more burdensome. Spectators will expect that "This time she will make it even more fun?" As soon as she saw the theme of this scenario, she shouted, "Wow, a title guarantees millions of spectators". Writing down the Gyeongsang province dialect with a blue ball pen on the scenario, she practiced for three months. Kim has learned to work in harmony with other actors and for coherence of characters. There was no ad-lib.
Some ad-libs were cut though. (Laughing) For example, the next day, after drinking and vomiting, when Cha asked, "Last night you must have eaten a live small octopus?" Kim responded, "Ah, Ah, is that still alive?" But after all, it goes with original scenario "Ah, gosh that is..".
Her character is a foolish beautiful girl regardless if she lives alone or doesn't work with her boyfriend or gets dumped by her boyfriend. But Kim likes it because it has a happy ending. In "Yesterday", Kim's debut film in 2002, she died after being shot and in "Hwangsanbul", she was stabbed to death by her husband (General Kyebaeck)....
Women are vulnerable for various memorial days. Men aim at this by saying "Make some special memory in life" Maybe this movie also stimulates men to think that "If women see this kind of movie, then they might be touched". However, Kim has never spent Christmas with a boyfriend. She has to have a crush on men.
I had a hard time calming down Mr. Park (Park Young-kyu). He was so hectic that he was cast in a love triangle relation with me and Cha Tae-hyun. He has asked to the director to revise the scenario, "Let Bhang Suk-doo kiss Huh Min-kyoung", and I had to stop him saying, "Please. No! No! Never!" He advised saying, "Performers should not lose innocence until the age of 50 or 60. It can show in their eyes". I had a great partnership with Cha Tae-hyun in acting, and it was so fun. We promised to have a toast of wine for Christmas.
