Ha Ri-su makes comeback

The first Korean entertainer to come out as being transsexual, Ha Ri-su, is making a comeback in the local music scene with her fourth album, "Reaction".

After acting in the Hong Kong film "Color Blossoms" and modeling for a Taiwanese underwear company for the past two years, Ha is getting back on her home stage to be reborn as a "real" singer.

"The exact date of the album's release has not yet been set. But it's going to be around mid-January", Ha's manager Kim Seon-kyeong told The Korea Herald.

Since her debut in a local TV cosmetics commercial in 2001, Ha has become a versatile entertainer, playing many roles from singer to actress to model.

In 2004, Ha became the first known transsexual to be featured in an advertisement for women's hygiene products. For nearly two years since releasing her third album, "Foxy Lady", she has rarely been seen on the local entertainment scene. Ha's management company, G&F Entertainment, originally hoped to have her on stage last summer but the plan did not go as scheduled.

Due to her long absence from Korea, rumors have circulated that she is suffering from health problems. Her manager said, however, Ha is in a perfect condition. "Because she has been so busy with her overseas schedule in Taiwan and Malaysia, she could hardly be in Korea. That's why her comeback was a little bit delayed", said Kim.

With the title "Reaction", Ha will try to create a new image of being cute rather than sexy, which was her strength that appealed to many fans.

"Reaction" was written by Shin Myeong-gu, who also produced studio albums of female trio Diva and male group NRG.

Even though the new album's title is a disco tune, Ha included some pop ballads to get rid of the negative stereotype of pop singers not singing well.

Her last single "When it snows.".., which came out last December, will be included in the upcoming album, said her management company.

G&F Entertainment said that Ha picked MBC's music program "Show Musiccore" for her comeback.
