Korea's representative Hallyu (Korean wave) stars actress Lee Young-ae and Jang Nara are to meet Chinese President Hu Jintao today, in Chong Wa Dae in Seoul, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The two stars were invited by the ministry to dinner after the summit on Wednesday between Korea's president Roh Moo-hyun and the Chinese president who is to visit Korea to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

"The two stars are invited as they are vital personalities in the cultural exchange between the two countries", said a government official.

Top actress Lee has created a "Daejangggum Syndrome" in China by starring as a Changgum, a palace maid who becomes a royal physician in the Joseon Kingdom, in the Korean soap opera "Jewel in the Palace (Dae Jang Geum)".

Singer and actress Jang is enjoying great popularity in the country by appearing in the China Central Television (CCTV) dramas "Yinse Nianhua (Silver Era)" and "Diaoman Gongzhu (Mischievous Princess)". This year, she was also voted Most Popular Singer at the China Golden Disc Awards.
