Based on a popular original by Lee Jeong-myeong, this drama redefines the Sejong era which was the most prospering time in the Korean Peninsula, and deals with the serial murders that happen for 7 days in the Kyeongbok Palace before the proclamation of the Korean Script.

Co-writing this drama is Kim Yeong-hyeon and Park Sang-yeon from dramas "Dae Jang Geum", "Seodongyo", "Queen Seon-deok" and more, and charismatic actors Han Suk-kyu and Jang Hyuk have everyone's attention on this drama.

Han Suk-kyu is the Chosun's 4th generation King Sejong. Born a genius, he realizes the futility of power too soon because of his father and tries to rule the country with the aura of knowledge itself.

Also, he looks dignified on the outside, but actually he is a hot tempered character who sometimes randomly imitates the swear words commoners use.

The other charismatic actor is Jang Hyuk who is public official Kang Chae-yoon who was once a slave.

Having lost his father because of King Sejong, Kang Chae-yoon is stubborn like no other and is like a cannon that's not afraid of anything.

To Chae-yoon, Sejong is an enemy that killed his father and, and to Sejong, Chae-yoon is a civilian who has to be acknowledged by him and they share a fate together.

In the irony of Chae-yoon becoming the problem solver of the serial murders, their relationship should raise interest.

SBS drama "Deep-rooted Tress will first be shown on September 28th.
