The "war on sugar" is going to change the way a large number of companies do business; research on the public's health and diet has resulted in new steps to try and curb the country's sugar intake, but not everyone's a winner: "Korea's leading snack-makers are equally concerned by the nation's anti-sugar movement. They plan to develop low-sugar sweets in line with the government's initiative, though most are reluctant to make drastic changes to their recipes in fear of losing customers".

"'Seoul Food 2016' Opens at Kintex in S. Korea"

South Korea's largest food exhibition, "Seoul Food 2016", kicked off May 10 with hundreds of companies and exhibitors setting up to share in the wonderful world of Korean cuisine. The event has received serious global attention, but that's not too surprising given how popular and interested the world is in Korean food: "A total of 1,511 food-related companies from 46 countries are taking part in the exhibition this year. Among them are 845 domestic South Korean exhibitors".

"South Korea cuts food waste with 'pay as you trash'"

Food waste is an important issue in South Korea and the government has spent millions on managing the issue: "The system has been successful in many cities. Seoul, with a population of 10 million, has managed to cut its food waste from 3,300 tons a day in 2012 to 3,181 tons a day by 2014. The goal, said the Seoul Metropolitan Government, is to reach 2,318 tons a day by 2018".
